my favorite magazine

Somerset Studio, May-June 2009

I finished reading the May/June 2009 issue of Somerset Studio. My favorite article is Spirit of Steampunk, by Ramona Szczerba, featuring her wonderful steampunk art.

So cool! I love her palette, the whimsy, and the contrast between the natural and the industrial.

Other articles that got my creativity all worked up:

With One Palette by Tammy Kushnir – beautiful colors and imagery.
Rainbow in a Box, by Connie Govea Stuart – cool idea!
Souffle Papier d’Art, by Sandra Evertson – I want to make some souffle papier too!
N. 104, by Linda Trenholm – the treeshouse of my dreams.
Type Drawers, by Lynne Perrella – just simply neat-o.

love those ancient traditions
I ordered the sealing wax and seal for my aubergine project. I got a pearly moss green wax, and an Eiffel Tower seal. I’m so excited! I get excited over strange things. I can’t wait to try it out!

bead stuff
In magazine-land I also finished the June 2009 issue of Bead & Button. Two articles caught my eye.

Triple Time necklace, by Cindy Pankopf, page 38

This is a little Steampunky itself. I love the colors; matte metallic beads are some of my favorites.

Very pretty. I bet it’s wonderful in the sunlight with all those crystals and facetted beads!

I’ve been thinking about letting my Bead & Button subscription lapse. Not that I don’t like it (although there are a lot of ads these days). I just don’t bead like I used to. It would hard though because I’ve been reading B&B since issue #4 – the latest is #92! And I have all of them, minus a couple. Or maybe I’ll switch to Beadwork magazine. I haven’t decided.

one more item in magazine-land
I bought the latest issue of Somerset Life (I had a 50% off coupon, so why not?).

Somerset Life - Jul/Aug/Sept 2009

De-lightful! Can I just jump into the pages and live there? It’s so lovely.

life is in the details
Enjoying a few moments of peace and quiet before I get up in the morning. Listening to my Julie Andrews Selects Her Favorite Disney Songs album.
