A few weeks ago we drove 3 hours north to hang out with my family for a few days in beautiful Dushore PA. Then we drove 3 hours south to Ocean City MD to hang out with my husband’s family.

Here are some photos from Ocean City:

My husband’s family surrounds all of their traditions with food, and Ocean City is no exception. Thrashers fries and Fractured Prune doughnuts (both pictured above), crabs, Fishers popcorn, Wockenfuss, and Dumsers are all necessary accompaniments to the experience. As a matter of fact, I’m not sure there would be any experience if not for the food!

Dushore was lovely and peaceful. We checked out the Sullivan County fair (demolition derby!) and took a ride on the Hiawatha riverboat, which takes a little tour on the Susquehanna River. We also went to a wonderful antiques place called the Red Barn (I’m not sure if that is the exact name, but it’s a red barn).

Of course I had to buy something. There was no way I was going to leave without treasures. There was so much to choose from – dishes, kitchen utensils, linens, knick knacks, jewelry, clothes….I finally settled on some fantastic women’s magazines from the 1930s, a couple ladies’ club books (so cool!), and (bestill my heart!) vintage sewing accessories. Take a peek….

Aren’t they fabulous? I have an idea to make some tags with the ladies’ club books. I just adore old stuff!

fresh and new

I made this digital collage using elements from the “At the Dawn of Spring” kit by Natali Design.

Here are some photos of my daughter holding the eggs we decorated and of my little Easter vignette. Unfortunately no handmade items this time!

Enjoy the day!

Continuing with the tradition I started on my 40th birthday, I bought myself a birthday gift. Jewelry, of course. And continuing with tradition I chose to support an artist on Etsy. When I saw this beautiful necklace by Danita, featuring her drawing of Marie Antoinette, I knew I had to have it. I am very familiar with Danita’s work, since she is a regular in the Stampington magazines I obsess over. Her lovely figures are simple, yet alluring and mysterious. And the eyes! Amazing.

I just adore my new necklace!

For the last few years I have wanted to be more creative for the holidays, and to do holiday crafts with Lily. I was trying to figure out something for Valentine’s Day when I found this great idea for Valentine vases on Pinterest. Take a Mason jar, stick a doily on it, and secure with a ribbon. et voila! Simple, quick, and oh-so-cute vases. Lily and I made a bunch last weekend. I was so thrilled for such an easy project – I had everything we needed, and even threw in some K&Company embellishments I had purchased last Valentine’s Day (and wondered what I would ever do with!). I bought flowers Wegman’s and set up my Valentine vignette on the dining room table. It looks so pretty!

42.

Last Wednesday I celebrated my 42nd birthday. I don’t feel 42, although I don’t know what 42 should feel like. I guess it feels like this! I took the day off from work and enjoyed a quiet, peaceful day at home. I ate lots of good food and worked on a jewelry project. It was delightful!

Here are some photos I took to record my day. Food seems to be the common theme…I love food!
