I’ve been working on some mini collages to make into soldered glass pendants.

Here are the collages, so far…

mini collages

The one at below left is Star of Known Luminosity – this one is done. The next one clockwise is The Sea. And the last does not have a name yet; it’s a photo of Marilyn Monroe, very early in her career (a photo taken for The Asphalt Jungle). I’m using a line from a Sylvia Plath poem for her. She’s my favorite!

I apologize for the not-so-great photo…it was the best I could do at the time!

Here is my May calendar journal page so far. Not much done yet, just the background…

may calendar journal page

I squeezed three different colors of green on to the paper, and then used a brayer to spread them over the entire page. Lesson learned – you don’t need a lot of paint for this technique! I put on way too much. I had to use paper towels to take off some of the excess. There is a lot of texture, however!

While the paint was drying I started applying black glitter to another project. I decided, hey, why not throw some on the paint? So I did. It’s very sparkly! But hard to see in the photo.

I had decided to do May in green, because my son’s birthday is in May and the birthstone is emerald. I wanted the page to be elegant. At least I got the green part down. Elegant it is not. I do like it though.

I am going to paint the dragonfly and put some black glitter on it. That will be the touch of elegance!

Wasn’t it just a few posts ago I said I was going to stay away from the scrapbook paper aisle in AC Moore? And yet I find this now in my possession…

lovely papers!

In my defense, this was not in the scrapbook paper aisle, but in a separate display. The Eiffel tower, as well as the colors, caught my eye, and the deal was sealed when I saw the paper with the clothing pattern on it. Who could resist? Not me! And it’s only 6 by 6 inches, and was just a few dollars…

Excuses, excuses!
