Hi there! I’m Dawne and my passion/obsession is making stuff. I started my blog in order to share my work and connect with and support other artists.
I’ve been working with beads (those sparkly mysterious creatures!) for over 13 years, creating unique pieces of jewelry. To me jewelry is not mere accessory or ornamentation. I believe there is a deeper connection between the wearer and the jewelry. I feel that each piece I make has an inner spark and acquires memories, thoughts, and history throughout its life. A beautiful piece of jewelry has the power to make the wearer feel beautiful also, inside and out.
More recently I’ve been drawn into the world of paper and glue. I love all the beautiful scrapbooking papers that are available these days, as well as vintage photos, collage sheets, ribbons, buttons, German scrap, etc. And of course the glitter glue. I’m not sure what it is that I love so much about working with paper and the accompanying odds and ends. I guess it’s being able to work with lots of elements to create a cohesive whole (that sounds good anyway). I like to make vintage-style books, bookmarks, cards, ATCs, inchies, and collage pieces.
I am determined to someday learn how to solder. I want to work with precious metal clay. I want to continue learning how to make bobbin lace and tatted lace. And then I will combine all of these things along with beads and paper and create cool mixed media art. That’s my dream, anyway.
I really just love beautiful things, and I love to make beautiful things. This world needs all the beauty we can give it.
Alas, I am not a full-time artist. I must have a day job to support my family (and my habit!). But someday…
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi! I'm Dawne. I am a woman, an artist, a wife, a mother, a lover of all things sparkly, and a chocoholic. Welcome to my little world of beads, paper, ink, and glitter glue. Here I record the chronicles of my artistic adventures and mishaps, in my never-ending quest to allow my love of creating beautiful things to express itself.

Hi Dawne,
I’m debating switching my blog over to a different host. How do you like WordPress? I registered for the trial and it seems pretty interesting….do you think it’s easy and are you happy with it?
Subject: Looking for Jewelry Designers who Blog
Hi Dawne,
I came across your What If I’m a Mermaid? blog and see that you make jewelry and other mixed media pieces. You have a nicely designed website.
The reason I am contacting you is because I am putting together a small group of blogging jewelry designers who we could send free samples of our new beads and jewelry supplies to in exchange for them blogging about these products.
Please let me know if you are interested.
Warmest Regards,
Steve

I’ve seen Artful Blogging, what a lovely magazine. Congratulations on being selected.
Hi Dawne, you’re the top google result for “a magic world parallel”…. I like the song a lot, and I like your beaded necklace too… It looks to me like you’re bringing your own sun.
