Hi there! I’m Dawne, and I love to make stuff. God has blessed me with creativity, and I desire to express it and share it. I started my blog in order to do just that, as well as to connect with and support other artists.
I am married to a wonderful man, Marc, and together we have a five-year old daughter, Lily; I also have a 20-year old son, Julian. My son is very handsome, laidback, easy-going, smart, and is aiming toward a career in culinary arts. My daughter is pure girl – dramatic, fun, silly, beautiful, creative, loves singing and dancing and fully enjoying life.
My creativity first found expression, over 15 years ago, in seed beads – those wonderful, sparkly, mysterious creatures – and in creating unique beadworked pieces of jewelry with them. When my daughter was born however the beadwork pretty much came to a stop; it’s so time-consuming, and my amount of free time has dwindled to almost nothing, so it became very difficult to find the time to do it. I still make jewelry though, because I love it so much – I just use simpler techniques.
To me jewelry is not mere accessory or ornamentation. There can be a deeper connection between the wearer and the jewelry. Every piece of jewelry can have meaning and an inner life, and it acquires memories, thoughts, and history throughout its life.
Within the last several years I have also been playing with paper and glitter glue. I enjoy the simplicity of creating a story with paper and the accompanying odds and ends. I love all the beautiful scrapbooking papers that are available these days, as well as vintage photos, collage sheets, ribbons, buttons, rubber stamps, German scrap, etc – all the wonderful bits and bobs available today. And of course the glitter glue. Because there simply must be sparkle.
I also have a fondness for old things – anything old or antique makes my heart pitter-patter! I generally aim toward an antique, or at least old-fashioned, look in my work.
I have so many other creative endeavors I am determined to someday attempt – soldering, precious metal clay, metalwork, fabric, lace-making, tatting, drawing, painting. So much to do!
I simply just love beautiful things, and I love to make beautiful things. This world needs all the beauty we can give it.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi there! Welcome to my humble little blog. I’m Dawne. I'm also a maker of stuff, a wife, a mother, a mermaid in disguise, a lover of all things sparkly, and a chocoholic. I've been blessed with a gift of creativity and a love of making beautiful things. I think this world could use a little more beauty, don't you?

Hi Dawne,
I’m debating switching my blog over to a different host. How do you like WordPress? I registered for the trial and it seems pretty interesting….do you think it’s easy and are you happy with it?
Subject: Looking for Jewelry Designers who Blog
Hi Dawne,
I came across your What If I’m a Mermaid? blog and see that you make jewelry and other mixed media pieces. You have a nicely designed website.
The reason I am contacting you is because I am putting together a small group of blogging jewelry designers who we could send free samples of our new beads and jewelry supplies to in exchange for them blogging about these products.
Please let me know if you are interested.
Warmest Regards,
Steve

I’ve seen Artful Blogging, what a lovely magazine. Congratulations on being selected.
Hi Dawne, you’re the top google result for “a magic world parallel”…. I like the song a lot, and I like your beaded necklace too… It looks to me like you’re bringing your own sun.
Hi Dawne;
It is wonderful to see all the beautiful things that you create. You are truly a talented artist. Congratuations
on your successes.
I am an old friend of your mom’s; we grew up together.
I knew your dad from high school. Ancient history.
I now live in Florida near St Augustine (east coast).
Your Mom may have spoken about me sometime.
Last time I saw you, you were a little girl. I have since seen the pictures of you your mom has shared with me through the years along with pictures of your daughter and some of your beautiful work.
She is so proud of you.
It is interesting that you mention in your bio that you want to learn to solder and work with Precious Metal Clay. I entered the world of stained glass this summer and plan to move on to PMC. Also, I have started going to class with a local wire artists.
Like you, my plan is to open a shop on Etcy with my friend and neighbor with whom I do my artwork. She has been an artist for many years and is teaching me. We call our little studio Studio by the Sea. We live 800 ft from the ocean.
Keep dreaming and best wishes for you ….. Ms Marie
